canada, you guys, but i keep stressing a wonel to the left could mean the difference between a bad storm and a very dangerous storm. that could still make landfall somewhere along the east coast. water, still very warm, up until you get towards the east coast, and the water temperatures drop off and that's going to help weaken the storm, along with the trough that should kick the storm out to sea. but the timing of this trough is going to be essential, and there is some of the you have advisories that are out, which i just mentioned to you. so now, the latest right now from the national hurricane center, hurricane warnings in effect for parts of the mid atlantic region and, of course, watches extending all the way up now towards delaware. so this storm is getting stronger by the minute, and, of course, we are watching the track very carefully. i'll have all that updated information. i apologize, it really just came in before i came to air. so everything is fluid, jenna! jen no need to apologize. we know you're working hard there. let's hope for a wonel to the right. >> absolutely.

homeland security janet napolitano this is traveling in monrewl canada has been speaking to a group and advocating very strongly that 190 countries take the next store up in airport screening by advocating the use of these full body scanners. in an interview with usa today she said we need to move to the next stage of screenings. there continues to be a threat stream about taking down a commercial airliner in part because it was used successfully before and could have a huge impact. just to give you context here. if there is a piece of advice i've had over the years it's like terrorism is like water it takes the path of least resistance and we are dealing with a thinking enemy. they understand the type of improvements we've made for the screening process, that's why we saw the evolution in the type of attack with the attempted bombing on christmas day, with the underwear -- with the bomb concealed in the underwear. that is an evolution in the tactic and it's also an indicator that when it comes to airline security al-qaida and others are watching what we are doing, they are trying to ta

path, racing across portions of canada. a tropical storm watch for parts of new fond land -- newfoundland and makes a dash for greenland. look at this, our next tropical depression possibly today, if it gets named its name will be li lisa. i'm about done with the tropical season so far, jon back to you. jon: remember that one season when we used the entire alphabet. jenna: and we went to the greek alphabet, 2005, katrina's year. jenna: we will get a live report from our reporter in the thick of things. a training session for the national guard sparking a wildfire there. apparently a bullet from an artillery training lit this fire up, now it's threatening one hundred homes right near salt lake cities. flames destroying four homes and forcing many residents to flee the area. january is -- janice the question for is will they be able to get this fire under control. >> reporter: it will be breeze see there. the southwest has been extraordinarily dry, not a lot of moisture making its way inland. what you see here on the satellite radar is not making it to ground. we do have bre

, it really should be making its way up to eastern canada. precip, we could see a couple of inches on top of what we saw for portions of eastern north carolina, and the heaviest of rain really for new england and eastern long island, but the good news is we've downgraded the storm, so obviously, this is not up to date, so we're down to a cat one, but the track is basically the same, just brushing eastern massachusetts. so we could still see a big hit from the hurricane across this region and we're going to have to monitor that, but the good news is the storm is weakening and it's moving quickly, you know, so we can just cross our fingers jenna. that's the best case scenario and we'll all have a fantastic labor day weekend once earl is out of here. jenna: that sounds perfect, that's the way we want to end the weather report. i know you've got to get back and check those hurricane reports as well. still a cat 1-rbgs still a hurricane. we can't disregard that. >> we can't disregard that but it's weakening. jenna: good news. thank you very much. jon: the maps aren't to -- up to date becau
